Spring is one of my favorite times
of year! I get to put away the pots of darker lipstick shades and sharpen the
colored, shimmering eyeliners. As a makeup artist, it is my job to give my
clients a spectacular spring look. If you can't find the time to visit a makeup
artist, check out these 10 tips for spring makeup.
Love your forehead. We do tend to forget this area during the
winter. Hidden under hats and sleek bangs, your forehead needs some love before
you pull back your hair into a sleek updo. Exfoliate and moisturize your
forehead too. Highlight this area, after your foundation application, with a
brush of gold-based bronzer. You'll look fresh and gorgeous.
Reach for thinner eyeliner. I do love
an eye crayon but they can be wide and hard to control. For spring, reach for
thinner, softer eyeliner. Your goal for spring makeup shouldn't be showing off
bold winged eyeliner. Eyeliner should be softer and hardly noticeable.
Wear blush colors that illuminate
the skin. You don't need those brown shades of blush now. Winter is over!
Instead, reach for coral, peach and pink blush shades. Look for cheek products
that mention "illuminating."
Try a blush with an iridescent base. Not all bronzers are alike--even spring and
summer bronzers are not alike. Spring bronzers contain pink, gold and
cream-colored beads or patches of color. This is the kind of bronzer you want
for spring.
Do wear bold, matte lip colors! Apply bold lipstick to the center of the lips
and rub outward. Of course, always start with a neutral lip liner. Outline
those lips and prime them before applying that bold color.
Add white eyeliner to your
repertoire. It's spring--time for wearing white! Line the water line with
white eyeliner, always! This step instantly widens your eyes.
Try a cream bronzer. You don't need BB creams now. Instead, dab
illuminating bronzing creams around the eyes for instant brightening.
Hone your eyebrow waxing skills. I'm not talking wax hair removal-I'm referring
to eyebrow wax that keeps your brows in place. Full brows are in but they
should be beautifully controlled.
Invest in spray on foundation. If you
really want a flawless foundation, you must try spray on foundation. It takes a
little practice but it gives you a beautiful finish.
Shine is more important than color
this year. Yep! A
tinted lip gloss is all you need.
Try these makeup tips for spring and you'll be ready for
anything from an outdoor tea to a day at the office.
